Senior Care Partners P.A.C.E. Opens Fourth Location in Albion

ALBION, MI (May 13, 2020) – Senior Care Partners P.A.C.E., a Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), has announced the opening of their fourth center, effective May 1, 2020, located at 290 B Drive North in Albion.  The 10,000+ square foot center houses a full medical clinic, Physical Therapy room, participant showers, activity rooms, day center, meeting rooms and offices.  A portion of the center is a completely renovated medical building, while the front portion of the structure, which houses the day center, is brand new construction.

The Senior Care Partners P.A.C.E. office is located next to the Oaklawn Dialysis Center – Albion. The Albion location is now enrolling new participants into the program that helps seniors with Medicare and Medicaid health coverage.

Senior Care Partners P.A.C.E., a nonprofit organization, is a member of the National PACE Association and part of the PACE Association of Michigan.  Now serving nearly 600 older adults throughout Calhoun, Kalamazoo, eastern Van Buren, southeastern Allegan, and southern Barry counties, the entity has been serving seniors since 2009 and currently employs over 275 individuals throughout the 4 centers.

“We had many people who were being transported from the Albion area to the Battle Creek center every week. “

“The expansion into Albion is very important,” said Laura Ferrara, Chief Executive Officer of the organization.  “There is a very large need for quality geriatric healthcare on the east side of Calhoun County and we are very happy for the opportunity to help fill this need for the senior population. We had many people who were being transported from the Albion area to the Battle Creek center every week. By having a new center in Albion, those individuals will spend much less time on the bus and can have more quality time at the center.  Not only will this benefit the Albion residents, but it will also help other communities in the area such as Homer, Tekonsha, and Marshall.”

The center came to fruition as a result of a working relationship between Senior Care Partners P.A.C.E. and Oaklawn Hospital.

The center came to fruition as a result of a working relationship between Senior Care Partners P.A.C.E. and Oaklawn Hospital.  Many hours over the course of several months were spent in discussion and planning between the two organizations.

The mission of Senior Care Partners P.A.C.E. is to provide a community of wellness for older adults with chronic care needs to empower autonomy and independence in their homes.  This is accomplished through a highly trained interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals who work together, and with each participant, to provide a very personalized integrated plan of care.  The healthcare team consists of medical doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, dieticians, personal care assistants, home care workers, social workers, spiritual care coordinators, and transportation coordinators.

The main meeting room for Senior Care Partners P.A.C.E. building is the activity room where events and meetings are held. The Albion Area Philanthropic Women met in this space at their meeting on March 11, 2020.

The term “All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly” means that PACE programs provide all the care and services for participants that is traditionally covered by Medicare and Medicaid as well as additional medically-necessary care and services not covered by Medicare and Medicaid as long as they are authorized by our interdisciplinary team.  PACE provides coverage for prescription drugs, primary and specialty medical care, transportation, home care, home and community-based services, hospital visits, and even nursing home stays whenever necessary.

Senior Care Partners P.A.C.E. is developing a plan to begin bringing members to the center that is consistent with the Governor’s MI Safe Start Plan and all relevant state and federal guidelines including the Centers for Disease Control and others.

While the center is officially open, participants are not yet able to attend the center due to the COVID-19 situation.  Senior Care Partners P.A.C.E. is developing a plan to begin bringing members to the center that is consistent with the Governor’s MI Safe Start Plan and all relevant state and federal guidelines including the Centers for Disease Control and others.
