Art about a Mexican legend about a dormant volcano called Popo & Izta is on display at Lopez Taco House. The full names of the characters are Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl. The legend preserves the memories of the volcanic eruptions near Mexico City.
Lopez Taco House is located at 205 North Superior Street, between Dickerson Music and the Molder Sculpture with the nearby historical designation of Albion as a National Historic District.
The founders of the business, Maria and Manuel Lopez, are gone but not forgotten. Their portraits hang in the restaurant, and Maria's original recipes are still used today.
The second generation of the Lopez family, Danny Lopez, manages the business and also offers catering of Mexican food for special events.
Lopez Restaurant still serves authentic Mexican Food and has been awarded several "Best of" prizes statewide for its Mexican Cuisine.
