Albion’s Big Read coming in October 2015! Albion is one of only 75 cities nationwide that was selected for a program by the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. Albion residents will have a chance to get a free book “Wizard of Earthsea” about a young man going through challenges and a transformation.
The October General Guide to Albion features the Big Read, thanks to support from the National Endowment for the Arts, Albion-Homer United Way, and Morning Star.
The hero of the book, Ged, is a person of color who is destined for greatness and also has many difficulties. He learns the power of words, and wisdom of his choices and brings about a balance in the world with his thinking and deeds. There is much excitement in the book, including dragons and sailing and characters of many types. People in Albion will have a chance to come together to discuss the book, to hear authors of other books with topics related to diversity, to have concerts, movies and a big kick off event.
See this website for the complete calendar of events and come back here for more General information later.
