FOOD DISTRIBUTION: SAME SERVICE JUST DIFFERENT NAME AND LOCATION
The Albion-Homer United Way provided information. See their link at the bottom of this article.
Helping community members with food needs continues to be a priority but comes with a new name and new location beginning in May.
Community Table of Albion (CTA) is the new name of the partnership of local groups and individuals working together to fight hunger in our community.
The name change reflects the inclusive nature of the food distribution outreach service and the new location makes picking up food much easier than before.
The new Community Table of Albion location is Kresge Commons, behind the Albion College Wesley Hall. Albion College donated the new location, and allows for more space and better coordination among organizations already at work in this critical area. The college renovated the larger distribution space and donated significant time, materials, and labor for the community project. Local resident Bill Dobbins, Albion College alumnus, also assisted with the renovation.
All of these changes will begin in May when food distributions will be on the second, third, and fourth Tuesday of each month, starting at 3:30 PM until supplies are gone.
For years, community partners and individuals have been working on improving food distribution. This program is overseen and organized by Albion Health Care Alliance. Learn more about the Community Table of Albion by visiting their website albionhealthcare.org/food/

Leslee Fritz, pastor of the First United Methodist Church and member of the planning team, stated “the Community Table of Albion is grateful to Albion College for offering its available space, helping ensure more dollars raised in grants and donations will go directly to serving neighbors.”
Participants should enter through a marked gate on Bidwell Street north of the Wesley Hall parking lot.
Signs and volunteers will help guide participants at the new location when it opens May 11 for the three-times-a-month food distribution.
