Black Squirrel Music Festival 2024

The Black Squirrel Bluegrass and Americana Music Festival was on Saturday June 29th, and hosted by Albion Malleable Brewing Company in downtown Albion. This free event, sponsored by local businesses, featured five bands on an outdoor stage, food vendors, a beer tent, and plenty of fun for everyone.

The festival took over Superior Street, which will was closed between Erie and Elm Streets starting at 9 a.m. Music kicked off at 12:30 p.m. with Alex Teller from Lansing, followed by Seselia from Boston, local favorites The Make-Believe Spurs, rising Michigan bluegrass stars Wilson Thicket, and headliners Chain Station from Denver.

Enjoy food from vendors like Mr. Reid’s Wonder Wagon, Rust Belt Ramen, and Yellow Bird Chocolate Shop. WIN98.5 broadcasted live from 3-5 pm, with a chance to win tickets to the 2024 Faster Horses Music Festival.

This was a bring your own chairs and sunscreen type of event. Outside food and non-alcoholic drinks were allowed, but beer must be purchased on-site. People came for the music, stayed for the community spirit!

It was a day of great music and fun in historic downtown Albion!
