Albion AAUW, NAACP, Greater Albion Chamber of Commerce, and Michigan Education Association hosted a candidates forum at the Marshall Opportunity High School on Thursday, October 20, 2022. Candidates presented their backgrounds and viewpoints. Some candidates were there in person, and others presented their information via Zoom. The event took two hours. Here, we show the three-minute opening comments from the two mayor candidates and one-minute closing comments from all of the candidates who appeared. The forum is shown in a 14-minute video next. Calhoun County Clerk Kimberly Hinkley presented information about the County’s election information. She expressed the who, what, when, where, and how to vote for not only the top state positions like the governor but also local elections that affect us daily. These include local county commissioners, judges, and city offices. Local proposals are on the ballot, and these issues affect us, so it’s good to vote to elect people representing your point of view.

Geographic Information Services Technician Chelsea Robinson presenting on interactive maps on the County’s website, like finding your polling place and following live election results. She explained that Calhoun County is one of the only counties to have this type of information available to the public.
