The Invasion Band gave a great performance at the Swingin’ at the Shell concert in Albion the last Sunday of July, 2019.
It was a pleasant evening with the sun shining, a cool breeze and brats on the grill. There was a good crowd, mostly sitting in the shaded areas near the bandshell at Victory Park. Although this was officially the second concert of the season, it felt like the season premiere. There were apologies for the rainy concert the prior week where the valient Marshall Rotary Band came to perform for 20 minutes before being rained out. Usually rainy day concerts go on at the large pavilion, close to the footbridge and the forks of the river. But the bandshell was looking good with a fresh coat of paint and hopes were high that the weather would hold off on week one. It did not. But this week, Sunday July 28, 2019 was perfect.
The Invasion Band did not let us down. We enjoyed wonderful music from the 1960’s British Invasion, a lot of the Beatles, but also the Rolling Stones and a few Yankee bands with the British sound including the Monkees. There was a crowd of over 200 people in attendence. The band played a few extra songs beyond the scheduled closing, and a good time was had by all.
