Narcan is available as part of a drug overdose rescue kit available at the Cram Medical Center for free during regular office hours. 115 Market Place, near the Albion Farmers’ Market. Why keep this on hand, even if you don’t take opioids or think you know anyone who does?
Drug overdose is the leading cause of accidental death in the United States, with opioids being the most common drug. The CDC currently estimates more than 1000 emergency department visits daily related to the misuse of opioids and about 91 opioid overdose deaths every day.
Prescriptions for opioid-containing medications quadrupled between 1999 and 2010. This paralleled a four-fold increase in overdose deaths due to opioids. The majority of the opioid deaths are attributable to the use of heroin and synthetic opiates other than methadone.

Red Med Box
General Information:
How it Works
Here are some helpful hints as you use Red Med Box:
Collect the medications in your home that are no longer being used or have expired. Do NOT keep old meds in your home or share them.
Keep medications in their original packaging.
Mark out your name with a black marker. Do NOT mark out the name of the medication. That way we know what it is when we are disposing the meds.
All Red Med Boxes are located at local law enforcement agencies, so they are safe and secure.
Red Med Boxes are emptied on a regular basis by law enforcement officers. They are then stored in the local law enforcement agency’s evidence room. Later they are destroyed in an incinerator.
