Tee Ball in Albion Started June 25 – Basketball games happening too

The first organized Tee-Ball game, anywhere in the world, using the batting tee was played on June 25, 1956.  Since that time, the inventor, who was organizing sports in Albion, Michigan, gained a lot of attention and fans.

Mlive wrote an article about Tee-Ball returning to Albion in 2021.

“It has been more than 15 years since organized Tee Ball has been played in Albion, Barnes said.

But the sport’s history goes back to 1956 when the city’s summer recreation director and coach Jerry Sacharski noticed younger boys wanting to learn to play baseball like their older brothers.

“Sacharski developed a tee to help young players hit the ball and help them learn baseball fundamentals,” according to officials with the Restore Our Coke Sign: Bring Art & History Downtown campaign said. “Others around the country also
