This year the Festival was not on the brick Superior Street, but in true Albion style we adapted to the situation and made it work. These aerial photos show a different perspective of where most of the activities were.
The wonderful brick streets of Albion Michigan are beautiful from the ground, and more so from the sky. But the upkeep of these brick streets is difficult when the work needs to be done. The summer of 2017 was one of those years.
Short clip – The new shape of Superior Street Albion Michigan begins to appear with more room for bicycle paths through town. The rebricking process involved installing new water mains, and major digging. Meanwhile, the brick facade of the new Courtyard by Marriott hotel is moving along. Work on Superior Street is expected to be complete for Albion College Homecoming in October 2017 if not sooner, possibly in September.
Superior Street Albion Michigan has the longest stretch of continuously bricked street in the state of Michigan. There is a lot of work involved with the upkeep of the streets, particularly because the street is a thoroughfare.
Harrington School is once again a home of education for students who live in Albion up to grade five. The school had been closed due to financial and attendance issues for the past three years. Now, Harrington is part of the newly enlarged Marshall Public School District. Harrington is a great place for volunteers and interns from Albion College, it is so close by.
