Albion Public Schools were annexed with Marshall Public Schools in 2016. This was a difficult decision. Much of the newly enlarged school district is about 12 miles from Albion.

KCC Nursing graduate Cierra Landon is a registered nurse at Vascular Health Center in Battle Creek. Her advice for the general public as a professional working in the field at this unprecedented moment in modern history?

Stay home.

While her work in the surgical area doesn't necessarily put her on the front line of the coronavirus situation, she says, she has many friends who are that are experiencing extreme anxiety due to resource shortages, struggles to protect themselves and their families while caring for others, and other concerns.

But there is a silver lining.

"I appreciate how the community has come together and donated, made masks and supported our children and elderly who are most at-risk at this time," Landon says. "There is faith in humanity."

Michigan 2-1-1 is an easy way to connect with help of all kinds, right here in our community. If you need help with food, housing, paying bills or other family crises during this pandemic PLEASE CONTACT MICHIGAN 2-1-1.

Michigan 2-1-1 is engaged on meeting emergent needs for all impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. The United Way is adding funding to the Michigan 2-1-1 emergency services system. Last week Consumers Energy generously donated $500,000 - that’s half a million dollars - to The Michigan Association of United Ways to help with emerging needs from this pandemic. Additional federal disaster funding is on its way to Michigan and community disaster needs will be met to the greatest extent possible.

Please us spread the word: Anyone who needs help with food, housing, or paying bills - who needs support during this pandemic should call 2-1-1 for assistance.
