Classics at the Bohm Theatre Whether it’s a classic play by Shakespeare, a classic epic by Homer, a classic painting by Da Vinci, or a piece of music by Tchaikovsky, we appreciate classic works because they are the foundation of what it is to be civilized.

This is equally true of classic films.

  • The Wizard of Oz,
  • Gone With The Wind,
  • Casablanca,
  • West Side Story,
  • All About Eve,
  • Lawrence of Arabia,
  • True Grit,
  • 2001,
  • White Christmas
  • Jaws
  • the list is long and growing.

These works are the expressions of talented human beings and their personal experiences – and when such works reach an apex of artistry, they transcend time – they become “classic.”

A classic work is not old – it is timeless. Classic films are just as relevant today because any form of human expression that is excellent is relevant.

In the 100 plus years of motion pictures, some films have transcended their mere entertainment and have engaged tough social concerns, influenced society and have swayed public opinions. Movies can capture your imagination and educate you about issues you might not know much about. Cinema is a very powerful medium.

It can be entertaining, but it also has the power to create awareness and education among people about socio-economic issues, and contribute to changes in society.

The Classic Series at the Bohm is full of unforgettable experiences, memories and timeless stories to share:

• Over 150 classic films from the 1930’s through the 1980’s shown on the Big Screen (largest screen in Calhoun County). • Increased attendance by 43% and have welcomed patrons from Lansing, Battle Creek and the Jackson area.

• Keeping prices reduced to be affordable to all, including our senior population.

• Celebrating Black History, Women’s History and reflecting on our past to help us better understand our future.

Take the time to enjoy a classic movie at the beautiful historic Bohm Theatre. You will be communing and relaxing with your neighbors and some of the greatest artists of cinema, and you’ll be creating your own classic memories.
